Imperial Bank, Nairobi HQ

Imperial Bank, Nairobi HQ

Value of Project: $3 million
Size: 5,000sqm
Completion: 1996

Imperial Bank is a rapidly expanding local bank whose headquarters building is shown here.

Due to shape and size, the quarter acre site was previously considered inviable by the market. The site presented a real challenge to Beglin Woods to fit the required accommodation in a multi-level design.

Despite the challenging site the project brief was to contain 3 floors of an administrative office, a banking hall and up to 50 car park spaces for customers and bank executives. In order to do this, the building hovers over an area intended for car parking, and allows access by ascending into the building. Interiors are granite tiled with full height glass partitions which allows light to pass through the building into an internal atrium containing the main banking hall.

The architects were responsible for all interiors, furniture and fittings.
